Get Published

UPDATED: If you’re a soccer fan who has an opinion, or if you’ve always wanted to write about your favorite sport, EPL Talk is accepting articles from readers. If your article is approved, it’ll be published on EPL Talk and be read by the more than 300,000 unique visitors EPL Talk gets each month.
EPL Talk offers writers who are passionate about soccer an opportunity to get your articles in front of a large international readership. Plus, many of EPL Talk’s writers have been able to build up an impressive portfolio, which has helped them land jobs at mainstream websites such as FOX Soccer, ESPNFC, NBC, Liverpool Echo and The Guardian, just to name a few.
Here are the 4 steps you need to take to get your article published:
One. Write your article (of 500 words or more) on any topic of your choice relating to the Premier League and/or England national team.
If you’re not familiar with EPL Talk’s content, browse through the recent articles. EPL Talk readers are some of the most knowledgable and passionate followers of Premier League soccer, so the article content doesn’t need to give a lot of background, nor should it be condescending. Instead, articles published on EPL Talk are written intelligently and often focus on remarkable topics or different perspectives that you don’t find on mainstream websites.
EPL Talk doesn’t typically publish match reports since they’re a dime a dozen that you can read anywhere else. We are open to publishing articles about the experience of following the Premier League — which can include topics such as TV and radio coverage, commentators, video game how-to articles, book reviews, app reviews and articles about offbeat topics relating to the Premier League experience such as sticker collections, Subbuteo and memories of watching soccer either in person or on television from yesteryear.
The longer the shelf life of your story, the more likely it’ll be to get published. For example, don’t bother sending in a preview of a match that is scheduled to kick off in less than 24 hours.
If you’d like some story ideas of what to write about, e-mail us.
Two. All articles submitted to EPL Talk must be original and cannot be published anywhere else. For example, do not send articles that you’ve published on your site. And even if/when your article is published on EPL Talk, you can’t go ahead and publish it on your own site. You can, of course, include a link from your site to the EPL Talk article.
Three. Before completing your article, be sure to run it through a spell check and grammar check. And, read your article out aloud to yourself to hear how it sounds. You may often find that a few edits are needed after you hear how the article reads. Also, don’t forget to include a suggested headline.
Four. Send your article in Word or text format to thegaffer[at]epltalk[dot]com
EPL Talk will follow up with you after your article is submitted to let you know whether it was approved or not. All articles are on a voluntary basis. If your article isn’t approved for EPL Talk, we may decide to publish it on one of our sister sites.
EPL Talk is part of the EPL Talk Network which includes nine sites in all. If you’d like to write about other leagues or cup competitions, follow the above steps to submit stories for Bundesliga Talk, Championship Talk, Champions League Talk, La Liga Talk, MLS Talk, Serie A Talk, Soccer On Dish and World Cup Buzz.
Thanks in advance for your contributions!
