Man United vs West Ham, Arsenal vs Swansea & Chelsea vs Southampton: Open Thread
After yesterday’s FA Cup matches where Sunderland were knocked out of the competition by Championship side Bolton while other Premier League clubs advanced to the fourth round, today’s FA Cup replay matches are a different matter entirely. For one, both of them are being televised and are available to view live on TV and the Internet (for US viewers). Plus, in both matches, there’s an opportunity for the Premier League giant to squash the lower Premier League sides. Or a chance for a FA Cup shock or two if the David of West Ham and Swansea can beat the Goliath of Man United and Arsenal.
For the Gunners, it’s a must-win match for any hope of silverware this season considering that Arsenal faces a tricky tie against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League next season.
For Manchester United, it’s another opportunity to win a match where they can progress into the next round and to increase the chances of getting more than one trophy.
If you’re recording today’s matches, be sure to take into consideration the possibility that the matches may go into extra time and maybe even into penalties.
Starting line-ups:
Chelsea: Cech; Azpili, Cahill, D Luiz, Cole; Ram, Lamps (c); Oscar, Mata, Hazard; Ba
Southampton: Boruc, Clyne, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Shaw, S. Davis, Schneiderlin (c), Cork, Puncheon, Guly, Rodriguez.

They’ve aged since they stopped playing!
What website does one get internet coverage in the US?
For Arsenal-Swansea, it’s live on FOX Soccer 2Go. Chelsea-Southampton is on ESPN3.com Check our TV/Internet schedule at http://www.epltalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule

Giggs and Anderson in the middle baffles me.
LMAO at Chelski loosing a 2 goal lead at home to Southampton… keep on booing CFC fans, CFC away form is very good… Now there is only 2 points in it no more games in hand..hah!
Honestly couldn’t agree more. They look excellent away at the britannia where it is extremely difficult to even score, and then to come back to that cauldron with petulant and irritating fans must be tough on the players. As a fan, to see most of your fanbase acting so childish is highly irritating.
That’s why the Chelsea fans are called the Plastics. No class at all. They will only be satisfied when Benitez leaves. That won’t be long as I’m sure Mourinho will arrive in the summer now that Guardiola has snubbed them for Bayern.
unlucky Swansea, conceding in the last 4 minutes never sits well… Luck Farcenal…I hope the Lady Wilshire Hype continues… i’m sure it will be to his detriment. (fingers crossed)
Man Utd won that cup game will looking with BOTH eyes on the sunday game at the lane, I have no doubt they will be looking for 3 points at the lane… I can’t wait!
Arsenal deserved to win, although it was a frustrating performance by the Gunners that will be papered over by the great goal from Wilshire (thanks to Giroud for the great pass).
While Swansea weren’t good enough, they played a weaker side, on purpose, in preparation for next week’s League Cup semi-final.
Tonight, Swansea gave a first game this season to Jazz Richards. Of the noticeable players missing, the following players didn’t play tonight: Ashley Williams, Angel Rangel, Ben Davies, while Michu was left on the bench until the 70th minute.
Still, congratulations to Arsenal.

Jack Wilshire is going to look good in a utd kit in 3-4 years time.
Jack has a amazing commitment to AFC. He’ll never go to the dark side.
