Swansea City vs Middlesbrough, Capital One Cup Quarter-Final: Open Thread
“Middlesbrough supporters travelling to Swansea for Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup clash will have their journey paid for by the competition sponsors – as a reward for being drawn away from home an incredible 12 consecutive times,” says The Daily Mail. Boro fans will be traveling a round-trip of 656 miles from their city to Swansea.
If Tony Mowbray’s Boro side can get a win in Wales tonight, the north east club will find itself in the semi-final of the League Cup against either Aston Villa, Bradford City or the winner of Chelsea-Leeds. If they can avoid Chelsea-Leeds, they could have a great chance of going all the way to the final.
For Swansea, today’s match represents an equally golden opportunity of getting closer to winning some silverware this season. The semi-final draw will occur after tonight’s game.
For viewers in the United States, the game isn’t being shown live on television. It’s being shown on delay at 6pm ET instead on beIN SPORT. But you should be able to listen to a live radio commentary via the talksport.com website (free registration required).

Trip and a half that one, especially midweek. Some madheads will do it though.
You coming over if you get to Wembley Gaffer?
I’ll definitely try my best to make it!

Middlesborough score but at the wrong end. Swansea will favour their chances to get to the final now.
Middlesbrough deserved to win this one. This was one of the poorest performances I’ve seen from Swansea this season. Boro bossed them around the pitch and were unlucky to lose.

The Boro can be pretty rough when playing at the Riverside. I still remember being all excited to go see City play there at the end of a League season about 4 years ago and Boro dropped something like an 8-1 spot on them.
This is Swansea’s first League Cup semi-final appearance ever in their 100 year history.

How tired did they look? I hope they are shattered and need 2 weeks recovery.
2 people with no sense of humor.

remember what they say if you can’t take a joke!
Swansea didn’t look knackered, but Tottenham should win comfortably on Sunday at White Hart Lane.

congrats for your Swans hope they can go all the way and hoist the cup and you are there to see it.
When’s the semi final draw ??
I thought it was going to be today, but the Chelsea-Leeds quarter-final was rescheduled for next Wednesday, so it’s going to be after that match finishes.

Thank heavens you scored for us tonight, bad luck you guys , but you won the singers of the night competition, your travelling fans were brilliant.
Congrats Swansea! Hope you meet either Leeds or Chelsea in the semis. Would be great to see a Bradford-Swansea final. If that happens, I really won’t know who to support!
