Premier League Saturday, Gameweek 15: Open Thread
What could be worse than West Ham United versus Chelsea? Perhaps QPR against Chelsea? Lazy jibes aside, let’s hope that the early kick-off between West Ham United and Chelsea is far more entertaining to watch than I fear.
In the six matches kicking off at 10am ET/7am PT/3pm UK time, it’s going to be hard to pick which matches to watch (unless your team is playing). Everton typically does well against Manchester City, so it’ll be a tough test for City at home against the Toffees. Arsenal has a home match against Swansea, where the Gunners will be under pressure both on and off the pitch (Arsenal supporters are organizing a protest).
Meanwhile, Liverpool faces a home match against Southampton where the Reds are desperate for a win against “lesser” opposition.
Over at Craven Cottage, it’ll seem like a reunion. Dimitar Berbatov and Martin Jol will be facing their old club, Tottenham Hotspur, while Clint Dempsey and Dembele will be very familiar with their surroundings.
Not too far away, Queens Park Rangers play their first home match under Harry Redknapp with a plum tie against Aston Villa. And last but not least is West Brom against Stoke, which should be an entertaining match to watch.
The last match of the day is Reading against Manchester United, one of the biggest matches at the Madejski Stadium this season.
Before, during or after today’s Premier League matches, post your rants, raves, questions or observations in the comments section below.
Have a wonderful Saturday!

go Hammers put more pressure on the waiter.could not happen to a nicer side.2 points from 9 for the interim waiter.

The wheels on Chelsea’s bus came falling off,

The wheels on Chelsea’s bus came falling off,
will Benitez get the ssaaacckkk.
?
LOL.
3-1
What did Sam feed them at halftime?!
the Hammers looked awful in the first half like they were still in bed.
what a second half debacle from chelski the waiter might not make it to Christmas.
Do you know who you are?.
Do you know who you aaaaaarrreeeee?
Not finishing in the top four,
THAT is who you are
The defensive genius RB lost out to the attacking powerhouse that is west ham LMAO
Rafa is the signing of the season
Morning….. anyone know why the Arsenal Swansea match isn’t being shown in HD on Fox Soccer Plus? I have Directv and thought live matches were in HD.
It is in HD with Time Warner.
Guy, you sure? Probably their usual BS, but Directv told me it was Fox Soccer that chose to broadcast in SD and not Directv’s fault.
Looked it to me. The SD picture is quite horrid.
Steve Clarke back to Chelsea?
Ian
when the waiter gets sacked do you still want him at Stoke?
any action on the matches today?
Not now! Roman might be after Pulis to steady his ship.
Be interesting to see if Roman throws his toys out again.
I can see Rafa making that long walk down the basement corridor of the Lubyanka any moment now.
Fancy Southampton for a bit of an upset today.
Lots of changes for WBA today, Jones in for Crouch. Still no Owen.
What a way to start the day…. No more stupid champions of Europe song…..
Yeah I can see how ” Champions of Europe ” singing would get on your nerves when Spurs supporters will never know what being a champion of Europe feels like and doubly when your team is in the shadow of not one but now two London clubs i can see how it would annoy you.
LoL we will see!
Your clubs in a mess……
YOUR CLUBS IN A MEEESSSS
your manager hates you
YOUR CLUBS IN A MEEESSSS
LOL .. all jest and bantering aside I hope that Bale isn’t injured too bad.
It’s 2 weeks, I think. Ideal temp role fill would be falque for pace and instinct.
Banter is all good
Can’t wait to go Mack in march for a few games!
Kyle walker injured..not cool, damn injuries
F*** it’s Chris Foy
Dempsey unsurprisingly getting a raw deal from Fulham fans for the poor way he ended the relationship with the club.
i think he brought it on himself with the way he handled his departure.
I agree
Villa winning, draw suits me bearing in mind next weeks fixtures.
Rob Green again. £50,000 a week!
All Blacks down 12/0 England is in command at halftime would be a huge upset.
Oh yes, forgot to mention this. Absolutely awesome win, huge upset.
Well that was a Wha happened ?? in the second half because Chelsea looked very comfortable in moving the ball and going on the attack. The second half West Ham just got in Chelsea’s face and the Blues wilted. Chelsea needed leadership to steady the ship after the first goal in the second half but the team just crumbled.
How the hell was that a fouls by Defoe when it was Sitwell clearly holding ing back like a linebacker? Chris Foy horrid!!
Sidwell
Stoke up 1-0. Whithead, Whitehead, he’s our man…..
Get in there stoke!
PARTY TIME!!
Cheers,
The Gaffer
Damn straight, great win for swans…thank you Swansea…Laudrup making Swansea a penetrative team. With out joe Allen and Sinclair.
Don’t get too drunk. Lol.
Talksport will be fantastic listening tonight with all the Arsenal and Chelsea supporters.
Sounded to me like Swansea have overtaken Arsenal in their ability to tippy tap it around.
Giroud and Cazorla diving like Olympic champions could probably have scored if they’d stayed on their feet.
WBA loose, Farcenal Loose at home Chelsea not just loosing but falling apart! and Spurs win 3-0 Christmas has come early!
LMAO
Nice work by Everton there. Still will be up top over the rags of course after beating them next week.
Can’t complain too much about Dzeko, who has singlehandedly brought brought in about 10 points this year. But that guy has zero chemistry with any of the other attackers and pretty much kills the offensive flow every time he starts.
Michu rules, big laugh to everybody who thought he couldn’t cut it. The guy single handedly kept Vallecano up last season
He was amazingly cool and calm on both shots. Like he knew he had them all the way.
Sorry jtm and all Man U but……..
C’mon Reading!
my side is not in the EPL i hope someday not Man U fan.
Arsenal are ghosts.
Get out the scotch….it’s 5 o’clock somewhere!
What a day!
Get in, cracking results today. I expected Stoke to get a draw. West Brom, we always beat West Brom!
That’s 2 defeats in 30 against West Brom, since we’ve played each other in the Premier League at the Hawthorns it’s been P4 W4 conceded 0.
Happy with the Villa draw as I think they may be a little overconfident when they come up against us next week. I just hope Spurs form slumps before the 22nd.
Shame about Arsenal, couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of cretins. Bet the Gaffer’s buzzing his tits off.
Looks like the unfashionables are making progress up the league table, just need Reading to stuff United to keep the flag flying for the unsung teams.
RRRREEEEAAADDDIIINNNGGGGGGG!!!!!
You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?
I have to buy a lottery ticket what a day!
Goarn The Royals! Another one for the unfashionables.
Just realised that Stoke have more clean sheets this season than any other team. That’s playing without 2 recognised full-backs! If santa claus can sort us out with one or two for Christmas I’ll be happy.
I’ll give you Dawson for some mince pies…make sure they are the glenfidich 12 yr specials tho…no tesco
I’d rather have Walker or Bale. I’ll make the mince pies myself and use some 33 year old scotch.
Deal?
Crap
Crapper
Less crap!
Not at all crap!
10-10 at full time?
With this and that Arsenal cup match it wouldn’t surprise me.
3-2 reading man utd 3 goals conceded in 20 mins…
Two horse race my arse! Way to early to call it, especially on that form
Not like spurs arsenal or chelsea are as good as either city or utd. Chelsea come closest butno way wil any of thos teams challenge us. City will imo since we cant defend and hv a shit midfield buts a 2 horse race utd is the only team that can beat city to the title its absurd to thnk any1 but chelsea can. I dont see chelsea beating us at OT and or city at the etihad.
Oh,it’s such a spurfect day
I’m glad I spent it with you
Oh,such a spurfect day
U just keep me hanging on
U just keep me hanging on
#loureed
#coys
Is this going to end up 7-5?
Probably like that Arsenal match.
Who’s got the worst defense today? Reading or Manchester United?
Cheers,
The Gaffer
I’d say Man U since they should be tighter but it’s not like we’ve had the best defense since the start of this season.
Wow…saw the replay…rvp got roobbbbed
Reading have conceded 18 goals in the second half of matches so far this season. They could concede another 18 today!
Reading vs Manchester United is like watching a Primary School match
.
RVD goal was legit, but so was the reading penalty cal for evra’s challenge.
Lomb long way to go, but it is shaping up,to be a crazy season.
