Premier League Saturday, Gameweek 11: Open Thread
Seven matches today. No early kick-off due to teams needing more rest from the Champions League and Europa League matches in mid-week. So, instead, we have six matches being played at once at 10am, and then the late kick-off between Aston Villa and Manchester United.
Arsenal against Fulham could be a mouthwatering one depending how the Gunners react in this match. Wenger’s team is starting to lack the creative edge, while Martin Jol’s Fulham side will certainly know how to overcome Arsenal’s weaknesses while relying on the core strengths of the Cottagers. Expect Dimitar Berbatov to play a big part in this one. The former Tottenham Hotspur player doesn’t need any prodding for this one.
In the other 10am ET/3pm UK kickoffs, Everton should comfortably beat Sunderland. Or so you would think. Wigan against West Brom should be a barnstormer. Reading against Norwich will feature plenty of goals. In the Southampton versus Swansea match, the future of manager Nigel Adkins could rest on the result of this one, so expect the Saints to score against a leaky Swansea defense. The only question is whether the Swans have enough in them to fight back. As for Stoke against QPR, let’s hope this one isn’t a nil-nil.
In the late kick off, I wouldn’t underestimate Aston Villa‘s chances against Manchester United. While this Aston Villa side is nowhere near as good as in a few years past, manager Paul Lambert has them playing a very organized system that can be tough to come up against. Expect Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke to play a big part in this one. The footballer has plenty of skill and strength to cause United problems. United, meanwhile, will be without Nani and possibly Jonny Evans due to injury. In reality, that injury news is a blessing in disguise since I don’t rate either player in their current form.
You know the drill. Join in the conversations in the comments section below before, during and after the matches.
Have a wonderful Saturday!

Argh, why no early kick offs today??
Anyway, still looking forward to the weekend. Hope the results all go my way!
i feel like i am stealing 7am match WOW!next weekend Gunners/Spurs 4:35am UGH!
Yeah not cool, tomorrow’s game is @5am PST wtf, not happy with that, horrible scheduling.
I’m surprised the derby is so early, that would normaly be the later game.
Did not know Sunderland haven’t won at EFC for 16 years, given EFC form this year that probably won be broken this year!
LMAO what was that ppt intro to Everton v Sunderland
Everton playing s 4-2-3-1 at home…. So defensive…Fire the manager!!! Play 4-4-2 Aarrrggggghhhh disaster… Oh wait its not AVB… Oh in that case we won’t comment– stupid pundits.
Are you watching the Everton-Sunderland match or Arsenal-Fulham ? gutted that Earthquakes are out.
I flicked between the 2, yeah I’m gutted too, they won the league and that seeding meant for some reason they were unprepared, terrible defending.
Gutted
Arsenal has adopted the Fulham defense Swiss cheese special. very poor marking from both sides.
Ha! I’m resisting… At least until after the game tomorrow, don’t want to tempt the universe too much before a game I’m hoping we can get something out of.
It’s difficult, there are so many things that could be said too!
(Woot! At Last second i snuck in some snark)
Arsenal and Wegner have some serious questions to answer. This is a pathetic performance defensively.
Quite the match between Fulham and Arsenal.
Can anyone explain why Wenger insists on playing Aaron Ramsey? He’s not even good enough to be playing in an Arsenal shirt!
Wow Fulham has been playing like they wanted to loose this game.
Let me correct that, they are playing like they wanted to loose for the last 6 minutes.
Not hand ball.
great save justice is served!
Justice.
Arsenal gives up 3 to Fulham and we get no snarky response from dust i feel cheated.
Give it some time I’m sure he will give us his thoughts on Le Arse at some point. You know how much he loves those other small London clubs
Arsenal vs Fulham: epic mid-table battle…
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
West Brom are doing really well now, another good result for them.
Well now!
should make for a good second half
Sir Alex Ferguson, please retire soon! All because of you and your epic management, I never have any hope for teams that come up against your team. So please, while I respect you a lot, I really want you to leave the club soon!
For now, I can only wish for a Villa stalemate at best.
talk about playing with a CL hangover.
Time for scholes to go as he slows down our play to much.
he has not had one of his better games today.
Hernandez is the Mexican version of Inzaghi.
Hold on, don’t get too happy yet. Anything can still happen.
Dear Lord, please help Aston Villa now. May their defense remain resolute for the rest of the game and if possible, help them to score another goal too. I know teams like this deserve a chance as well sometimes and I hope it’s in Your will to help them this time. This I pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
And just when I say that, United pull two goals back to go level…
Haha..!! Make that 3 now…!! Go Hernandez..! GGMU.>!
LMFAO.
Dear Lord? I don’t think Michael Flatley is taking prayers right now, please leave your request after the jig.
UTD at their evil best.just so you know that is a compliment rip the heart out of the Villa fans.
This is Villa tho, not city
I think that win deserves a few pints to celebrate.
Hopefully a win for spurs and rent boys draw tomorrow.
Can’t say I’m surprised to see this from millwall, I hope they are never promoted to the BPL.

Well, that’s too bad, sometimes things just aren’t meant to happen. Sad thing is, this situation has been taking place so many times i the recent past already.
