FOX Sports’s national broadcast of Newcastle United against Manchester United, shown on delay over its free-to-air FOX network, was watched by an average of 1.4 million people on October 7, 2012.

The tape-delayed broadcast of Newcastle-Manchester United garnered a rating of 0.9.

The broadcast of Newcastle-Manchester United had a 29% higher rating and a 40% increase in average audience compared to the 0.7 TV rating and 1.0 million average viewing audience that watched Liverpool-Manchester United in September, 2012.

The 1.4 million people who watched the game almost beat the record viewing audience for a Premier League match on US television. In November, 2011, a record 1.6 million people watched Chelsea-Liverpool on FOX.

The average viewing audience for Newcastle-Man United doesn’t include the number of viewers who watched the game live on FOX Soccer earlier in the morning on October 7.
