1 Million Watch Liverpool vs Manchester United Tape Delayed On FOX
FOX’s tape delay broadcast of Liverpool against Manchester United on its free-to-air network TV channel was watched by 1 million viewers on September 23, 2012.
The Sunday afternoon tape-delayed broadcast averaged a 0.7/1 with an estimated 1 million viewers tuning in. This compares to the September 18, 2011 match, which had a 1.0/2 rating, but it’s important to note that last year’s broadcast of Liverpool-Manchester United received the benefit of a NFL lead-in that was +19% better than the one on Sunday, September 23, 2012.
The 1 million viewing audience number doesn’t include the TV audience who tuned in to watch the game live on FOX Soccer earlier that day.
FOX’s next broadcast of a Premier League match on the free-to-air FOX network is this Sunday when Newcastle United against Manchester United will be shown either at 2pm ET or 4:30pm ET (check your local listings). The match, of course, will also be shown live on FOX Soccer at 11am ET.

Again, these are highly botched figures. There are millions and millions that are unaccounted for because these figures are taken using a stone age process of giving selective households what is called a Nielsen box. Nielsen is a billion-dollar business built to measure the how many people watch not TV shows or programs, but TV ads
We know. The same applies to all shows. It’s not as if NBA or NFL get more accurate ratings than EPL. But it’s the best basis of measurement that’s currently available.
