John Terry Found Guilty of Racism and Banned for 4 Matches: The Daily EPL
The FA announced this morning that “An Independent Regulatory Commission has today found a charge of misconduct against John Terry proven and has issued a suspension for a period of four matches and a fine of £220,000, pending appeal.” The charge is in relation to the alleged racist remarks that John Terry aimed at QPR defender Anton Ferdinand in the October 23, 2011 match.
According to The FA, “The penalty is suspended until after the outcome of any appeal, or the time for appealing expires, or should Mr Terry decide not to appeal.”
Depending on how John Terry proceeds, he may still be able to play in this weekend’s match against Arsenal if he decides to appeal the decision.

Nice to see you added Roy Greenslade’s blog on the list. Thanks!
I still can’t get over the fact that there was a trial for this nonsense. Now the crooked FA steps in with their silly judgements. It’s all very comical.
Racism is nonsense. But it’s not nonsense that it was investigated, unless you have first hand knowledge because you were part of the proceedings.
What ever happened with Rio Ferdinand being charged by the FA for his comments at Ashley Cole? Did anything every come of it?
I believe Rio got a £40 fine and warned about his future conduct for his Twitter comments, had he been the person who directly made those comments about Cole he would have also got a ban.
first of all, Rio said NOTHING about crybaby cole. he only RESPONDED to a twwet that was sent to him. “haha, choc ice, classic.” secondly, he was fined 75,000. you ABU’s need to do your homework.
wow…so guy uses a racist language in his mother tongue gets 4 games…the guy who comes from overseas uses it gets 8 games.
I think it’s because Terry only used it once where suarez admitted he used it multiple times. The FA make up the rules to suit themselves in situations like these.
Well, you know how those Sudaca are. They aren’t civilized like the English.
I thought he only got 4 matches while Suarez got 6 becasue Ferdinand is only half black.
gaffer, come one dude. stop trying to moderate the comments..takes the fun out of commenting, i have never seen any type of foul comments in epltalk so far so why all of sudden?
M Owen, I need to tinker with the settings so it put a lot of the comments into moderation. It’s a new system for me, so I’m working out the kinks. Have patience. We’ll get there!
Cheers,

Can you also fix the UI while you on it! At the moment the site is not usable. It is broken in IE8 and looks awful in Firefox.
Hi Andrei, the developer is aware of the issue with IE8 and is looking into a fix. Which version of Firefox are you using, and on what OS?
Cheers,
The Gaffer
Firefox 3.6.20 Windows XP SP3
Thanks Andrei!

Andrei, could you try upgrading from your current version of Firefox to a newer one? The version 3.6 is from two years ago.
Let me know if that helps fix the issues you were encountering.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
Gaffer, I can get the new site fine with Firefox and IE, but Chrome keeps giving me: “This page has a redirect loop. The webpage has resulted in too many redirects.”
Which version of Chrome are you using, on a PC or Mac, and which page are you going to where you see that error message? Thanks Guy!
Cheers,
The Gaffer
Version 22.0.11229.79m on a PC. It comes up when I try to get the home page, epltalk.com
Thanks Guy. I’ll make sure the developer gets right on it.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
I am having the same problem as Guy with Chrome. I actually thought you guys had gone out of business (which would have been surprising as it is such an excellent site.)
Marc, the developer is looking into the issue. Thanks.
Cheers,

I say JT doesn’t appeal so he can get over the 4 game ban. The bad thing is that JT will miss the October 20th match against Spuds at No Heart Lane. JT always has a goal line clearance against Tottenham.
hmmmm, didnt the someone with the FA or maybe the PFA say that being found guilty of racism is a “sackable offence” ?
So…how long is it going to take for Chelsea to change their 0% tolerance to racism rule?? My guess is that they already have.
When are England going to wake up and realize that this guy is a menace to his sport and English society as a whole. He represents everything that is wrong with professional (?) footballers.
Sack him and let him wander aimlessly for the rest of his life.
BTW, I am not a JT fan.

The f.a. Kangaroo court is held in secret!!!!, they have a guilty rate of 99.5%!!!!,they even have secret “judges”!!!! the charge against john terry, which they maintain was a different charge from the court of law,,came from a 5 second you tube tape ??? how the hell can the charge be different ??? grosvenor law must proceed with john terrys appeal(which he will win easily), and take the f.a. To arbitration, and expose their totally immoral dictatorship..

Not sure how you can use the headline ‘guilty of racism’? Pretty sure that is not what the FA charged him with… Lazy journalism at its best.
The headline is from The Guardian’s article at http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/sep/27/john-terry-verdict-chelsea-guilty

Gaffer,
The following are lighthearted observations and are not meant to offend anyone including the Dev.
Unless the Dev’s are Arsenal, Chelsea or West Ham Fans who didn’t create a test plan or test environment that was an exact mirror of the public WP environment arsenal fans tend to ignore load balance issues and have no plan b.
As i’m sure you are aware This new modded WordPress theme is on occasion going a little brrrrinngg-kuububuu-momomo-hajflaken. (Dastardly and Muttly Crazy)
On a desktop WebKit browser (mountain lion safari and chrome latest) it’s fine. On iOS WebKit, for some reasons not so much. iPad running iOS 6 the menu doesn’t render and the menu is vertical stacked hyperlinks. On my iPhone 5 with iOS 6 the right column doesn’t show at all, 0 adverts, 0 recent comments, news now, the whole things…0 render, just blank white column.
The theme is clean(ish) but the comments section is a little crazy, not easy to read and after just 2 concurrent replies it looks smashed together.the outline boxes within boxes for replies increases visual confusion and negates any clean look. Although if the comments section was done by a Chelsea fan then he’ll tell you he was just repeating a design he thought he had seen by someone else
Just some thoughts …
Ohh west ham fans were the worst of them all, relying to much on safari’s. user agent menu option in debug mode, testing the site in that mode gives a false positives on renders much like the loan of Andy Carroll..
If the devs last name is Rodgers he will probably blame the refs… I mean servers for lack of results…I mean current website challenges.
Keep at it the night is young, I’m sure you get it solved

Blah, Blah, Blah, the same old story about John Terry, I really don’t know if he is or isn’t a racist and frankly I could care less. So, some commission declares him a racist doesn’t make it true. Aside from family and friends who knows what is in Terry’s heart. I would challenge anyone at least once in their life they have not uttered a racist comment under their breath, in mind, or out loud. If you say you haven’t I think you are lying. As humans we are not perfect and never will be and how much as society wants everyone to like one another it will never happen, it’s just the human condition and you all might as well get used to it. However, I will say this freedom of speech doesn’t exist in the United Kingdom or Europe for that matter, you can’t have it both ways. Freedom to express your thoughts or ideas means taking the good with the ugly. That is one of the reasons I am grateful to have been born and live in the United States, even though our rights are under assault.
