Premier League News Links: Swansea Signs Defender Chico Flores From Genoa

The Gaffer will be a happy man this morning after Swansea City announced the signing of 6’2″ defender Chico Flores from Genoa. The centre-back will be a perfect replacement for Steven Caulker who has returned to Tottenham after being on loan with Swansea last season. Flores has played in both La Liga and Serie A, so after the disappointment of coming so close to signing Gylfi Sigurdsson and then losing him to Tottenham, it’s good to see Swansea get their man. In the meantime, the Swans are on the verge of signing Jonathan de Guzman.

The Adebayor/Van Persie story is interesting. If paired with shipping Tevez out and if RVP can be had for the £15m that is a win-win for City I think. Adebayor has nowhere to really fit in up north despite being a very nice player.
Curiously, the City supporters forum has a poll and like 80% are against picking up RVP. I don’t agree with that at all, especially if you can get that done at 15. Tevez is 3 years younger but he is, of course, Tevez. I’d go with RVP and his injury history over Tevez with his attitude and showing up out of shape this spring any day of the week.
going to the swans quakes game! stoked! that’s the good thing about having a wife who knows you like to see a midfield play. yeah the quakes are my local, but the swans know how to ball. i’ll take pics gaffer! and congrats on a good pickup.
Thanks Robert. I’d love to see photos, so I can post them on the site.
Originally I was planning on taking a trip this summer to follow Swansea around on their US tour, but I’ve decided to save my money and go to Wales to see them play at home in November instead (I haven’t been to Swansea’s Liberty Stadium yet). The last match I went to was at Vetch Field, many moons ago.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
