Match Of The 70s, 1972-73: Friday Flashback Videos

In this week’s installment of the Friday Flashback Videos, we take the time machine back to the 1972-73 season in the old First Division of England.

If you haven’t seen this before, it’s definitely a must-see series of videos. In them, you’ll see some of the legends of the game including Brian Clough, Don Revie, Bill Shankly, Charlie George, Martin Peters, Gordon Banks, Bob Stokoe, George Best, Tommy Docherty and many others.

Plus you can see some interesting video of The Kop in full voice, St. James’s Park under construction (and how different it looked then to now) and last but not least the recently departed Norman Wisdom, a comedic genius.

Feel free to share any observations or questions in the comments section below.

  1. The Kop swinging away is one of the great sights of British football, what a shame terracing had to go

  2. john sexton says:

makes me sad to see what liverpool once were compared to hodgsons side today. im not saying its all his fault, there were plenty of other people managers, owners etc. which has caused this decline but hodgson has damaged liverpools pride in so many ways since he has come.
