We’re just a week away from the Community Shield, and two weeks away from the Premiership kick-off. And, amazingly, we’re approximately 7 weeks away from the next release in the EA FIFA video game series, FIFA 07.

According to EA Sports, the game will include a complete overhaul of the game engine and is scheduled for release in late September/early October in the US.

New features include:

  • Crowds react to your performance. When you have possession and score goals, the fans will result with rousing chanting.
  • Improved gameplay. Passing and positioning have all been enhanced. Players jostle and collide realistically while trying to win balls. New ball physics accurately recreate bouncing, skidding and topspin. Signature moves and playing styles for the stars have been authentically captured.
  • Complete authenticity. FIFA 07 features 27 leagues from 20 nations. Over 510 teams are accurately represented with correct kits and badges.

Many of the other new features take advantage of online functionality including even a live sports ticker with real scores and news from the world of football.

All that and I would be shocked if the gameplay comes anything close to Winning Eleven.
